Biography
Janet was born in Cape Breton and currently lives in Sydney. She studied nursing at Sydney City Hospital, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Dalhousie University, community development at St.FX and completed graduate studies degree in adult education at the University of New Brunswick.
She has worked extensively in health and community development, building community capacity to address the determinants of health. She has spent her professional and volunteer career concerned with addressing root causes of problems affecting those most vulnerable in her community. Her research involvement has focused on improving access to health and social services for vulnerable populations, which is how she became a colleague and dear friend of Margaret Dechman.
Janet currently coordinates the development of health services at the Ally Center of Cape Breton.
